A LITTLE HISTORY:
The activity of this historical Venetian place, both as a hotel and as a guest house dates back to 1940, when Maria Messner opened her home
and gave hospitality to students, teachers and travellers. It was in that period that "HOME MESSNER" was born.
But preisely in that year there was the outbreak of the Second World War and tourism could pay only a very little role in a sea city
that didn't have its own food sources.
However Maria Messner didn't give up. On the contrary the satisfaction of her guests prompted her to transform her cooking ability into a
service and the "HOME" became "INN MESSNER".
In 1960s, when Italy in the middle of its econimical development, the "INN" first became a "GUEST HOUSE" and then, some years later, "HOTEL MESSNER".
Every transormation brought with it improvments, embellishments and an encreasing comfort for the guests. The result of this intense and continuos work
was the "Golden Eagle" prize, that she obtained in 1978.
In 1990 she was awarded the special prize of he Chamber of Commerce for her loyalty to work.
In 1980 Maria Messner left the direction of the hotel to her son, who has further developed her mother's activity, giving to the hotel an international
mark, but at the same time maintaining the traditional friendly, homely and relaxed atmospher that has always characterized the history
of the hotel from the very beginning. |
